UNLV will face Cal on Thursday in the first round on the NCAA tournament.
The Rebels, who lost in Saturday’s Mountain West championship game, earned a No. 5 seed in the East region. The game, which will be played in San Jose, Calif., is a rematch of the Dec. 9 matchup between the teams, which UNLV won 76-75 at the buzzer on a putback by Quintrell Thomas.
UNLV lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament last year, Dave Rice’s first season as head coach. The Rebels are 25-9; Cal is 20-11.
